Why Become a Landlord
Why Become an HCV Landlord?
Participation in CMHA's HCVP provides all of the following benefits:
Guaranteed Rent Payments
- CMHA will pay your Housing Assistance Payment (HAP), the portion of the rent that covers the gap between what the tenant can afford to pay based on income and what the market demands -- on time every month and paid directly to you. Upon request, CMHA even offers direct deposit of your HAP.
Free Advertising!
- CMHA will advertise your units free of charge to families on our program who are looking for a place to live.
You Choose Your Own Tenants
- Select and screen your Housing Choice Voucher tenant the same way you select any other tenant.
Contracts
- You sign a contract with the Housing Authority and a Lease with the tenant. Your relationship with the tenant is virtually like that of any other tenant on the open market.
